Camping Out

We've gone camping for the last two weekends in a row.  Rob's parents let us borrow their truck and camper, which was a new experience for me, since I have always camped in a tent.  Camping in a trailer is a whole different experience.  It was definitely not as much roughing it as I am used to.

The first weekend, we went with just our own little family to Carmel Campground in Sheep Creek Canyon. It was fun and simple.  On the drive there and the drive home, we listened to the Radio Theater audio recording of The Magician's Nephew, the first of the Chronicles of Narnia.  Hallie especially loved the audio book.

Hallie and Claire took turns taking pictures of each other doing poses on these big rocks.  This was Hallie's "puppy" pose.

Then it was Claire's turn.

Shaelyn also had a great time camping.  She loves being outside.

Cutie! She's sitting on Hallie's giant bunny.

The day we got home, they crashed.
The following weekend (right after Wicked), we went camping with our friends the Birches and the Morrises.  We camped in Sheep Creek Canyon again, but we went boating on the lake every day, so we didn't spend that much time in camp.

After tubing in the morning, the girls had a blast just playing in the water and the sand all day.

Shaelyn fully enjoyed herself.

The boys.  They had fun spear fishing in the afternoon.

Back at camp for the night.

Evie holding our filthy dog.

That night, we ate at Browning's in Manila--yummy! And the kids had a dance party in camp.  Very cute.  We stayed up and played 10,000 with the Birches.  Classic camping! The next day, we went back to the lake for more fun in the water!

Look at the size of Kona! She's bigger than Evie!

We had a wonderful time together--my only complaint is that it wasn't long enough! I wish we could have stayed there for a whole week! Fun times!

  1. How fun!!! Every time we talk about you guys, we think, 'We really should do more with the Hendersons. We like to do all the same things!' 10,000 is one of our favorite games! We camped last weekend up by Spirit Lake... let's plan a camping trip before school starts!
