Okay, so maybe "bonfire" isn't exactly the right word, but I liked the alliteration. What can I say, I'm an alliteration freak. Claire turned 5 years old on Monday May 21st. Her party was scheduled for the following Saturday, so on Monday evening we had a little campfire with just our family to celebrate her special day. She is so cute and sweet and we love her to pieces. She's got the feistiest personality and always does something to surprise us. She loves her sisters and her mom and dad, and tells them so. She uses big words in the correct context. She loves playing with Hallie and they have wonderful pretend adventures together. She is a happy presence in our home. She loves helping mom, whether it be with chores, dishes, laundry, making dinner, or helping with the baby. She is a joy to be around and we are so lucky to have her!

| Just call me Lord of the Flame! |
| Too cool. |
| Uncle Ben, who is living with us for the summer, came and helped out with the fire. |
| Shaelyn's first campfire! |
| While we waited for the fire to burn down to coals, we went for a walk along the river. It was so beautiful. |

| The birthday girl! |
| Look at that landscape! |
| Hallie's ready to roast! |
| While we ate, this perfectly white, chubby bunny approached our little camp. I was amazed, never having seen a white rabbit like this in the wild around Green River. He came fairly close, too, and didn't seem to be easily startled away. |
| Presently, his spotted friend joined him. These rabbits looked very well fed and cared for, as if they were someone's pets. |
| We found a storage crate with holes carved out of it hidden nearby in the bushes, and we can only assume that someone set them free. |
| As you can see, they were quite friendly. This little fellow came hopping right up to me with very little fear. |
| Please excuse Evie's messy face--this was after we ate our hot dogs. |
We had hot dogs and s'mores and left just as it started getting dark. It was a great Family Home Evening/birthday campfire!
Claire's official birthday party took place on Saturday. We had family and friends over for a barbecue with all the yummy barbecue stuff: burgers, hot dogs, potato salad, jello salad, watermelon, chips, and homemade rootbeer. Not to mention some ice cream cake! (Can you hear the Hallelujah chorus playing right now? I can.) It was a great party!

| Claire's ready for kindergarten! |
| Look at all those cousins! |
| Aunt Shannon and the twins got to come to the party too! It was great to see them. |
| Happy Birthday to Aunt Stacey also, whose birthday was actually on Saturday. Thanks to the Gerrards for the homemade rootbeer! Delicious! |
Claire got a new dress for her birthday, which she wore to church the next day. We also did her hair all fancy:
| Sorry for the overexposure, but this was the best picture of the dress. |
| I love a fun hair-do! |
| She requested the upside-down braid. |
Pretty girl! Happy Birthday, Claire! We love you!
