Birthdays are so much fun when you're six! Hallie loved having her birthday at school where everyone told her happy birthday and she got to bring treats for the snack time (she chose store-bought frosted sugar cookies instead of a cake--thank you, Hallie!), and she got to get hot lunch that day. Since she always has cold lunch, that was a big treat for her, and she talked about it a lot. Her friends in her class at school made her a birthday book, in which each of them drew a picture of what they would give her for her birthday, and that is a very treasured book, let me tell you!
Later that afternoon, we went swimming at the Rec Center with Hallie's cousins Trenten and Ashlynn. Hallie had been begging to go swimming for months, so it was a big hit. After that, we came home and opened family presents.

So I wasn't quite on the ball enough and didn't get out birthday party invitations before Thanksgiving. But I felt that Hallie needed to have a birthday party with her friends, so I sent out invitations right after, and we had her party on the 9th, one week after her actual birthday. The day of her party was also "Break a Rule" day at school, and for her rule-breaking, Hallie chose to paint her face that day. So that's why she has faded flowers on her cheek in these pictures. She had a wonderful time with her friends at her birthday party. It was lots of fun!
